Akari Ōzora, who has entered Starlight School, hasn't even shaped her idol forte. In a condition such as Akari's, Headmistress Orihime suggests her to participate in newly enlisted idol training program, the "Aikatsu! Boot Camp". In the fairly strict program, Akari tries to encourage herself, but...
While sitting in the lunch room, Akari watches over a report involving the upcoming Partner Cup. She is pretty excited to find out who will be Ichigo's partner, then makes a wish to be like them some day.
It's then Orihime comes by to visit her. Orihime mentions how poorly Akari is doing and shows her a flier for the Aikatsu Boot Camp, a new program to help idols hone their talents and skills to improve themselves.
In another room, Ichigo, Aoi, and Ran are discussing things with their own partners, Seira, Ki, and Sora. But suddenly Sakura bursts in to tell them the bad news about Akari. They are very surprised, since they never heard of it. Seira and Ki reveal to them that students with poor grades are also taken off to boot camp. The girls grow very confused as Ichigo makes an attempt to understand it.
Back at her dorm room that night, Akari is discussing the situation with her roommate. She asked why she didn't do any research first before agreeing, but Akari mentions how Orihime recommended it so she felt as though it was best to just agree right there and then.
Her roommate reveals the information she's heard of, including the fact that the training was designed after the regimen used by Navy Seals, but modified to train idols in a short time. She also finds reviews from some girls that weren't there before and they claimed how tough the Sergent was, also.
Early the next morning, Akari leaves for camp. While concerned for the fact this may be really hard, she is also aware of how bad she performs right now. Unknown to her, Ichigo was watching to wish her luck.
Meanwhile, Orihime and Johnny also discuss the unfortunate events. Orihime thinks that while Akari may not be too great now, if she can figure out the important things while at boot camp, she will become better for it.
On the bus, Akari sits in the back by herself. Many of the girls sound worried but she tries to focus on how good this will be for her. With decreases as they pass by the ocean and are forced onto a boat, which takes them to a strange island. There, the girls are welcomed by the coach, Sergeant Pepper. He tells all of the girls to start running to the first area, where Akari immediately gets called out when she gets caught by a stick in the ground and yanked downward. After she gives her name she quickly takes off to catch up with the others.
Back at Starlight Academy, Ichigo, Aoi, and Ran were practicing. They did really well, but are surprised to find a bunch of first year students by the door way, who wish them luck and question who their partners are and such. This reminds Ichigo of Akari once more.
During day two at camp, the girls are running while carrying very heavy logs. Then near the shore they must do lifts with them, then he makes them start to jump and do push ups. As this is going on, Akari realizes that this isn't what she wants. She's behind, no matter how hard she tries and in this time she is alone like she was before. With that thought, she falls to the ground in defeat.
It's then Sergeant Pepper tells the girls that everything they did was only a warm up. Now they need to build a stage on this island for performances. They all split up trying to figure things out, but soon they realize that they need to work closer together. One of the girls comes by to inform Akari of this and they all regroup at another part of the island, trying to determine the stage design. They think a circle stage would be too boring, but the heart and star stage is a cute, but complicated idea. They also ask Akari for her own opinion, but she admits to liking both of them.
It's then one of the girls asks Akari about her identity before more girls reveal to have seen her from the Auditions Caravan. They compliment her cute new hairstyle, as well as the fact that they are surprised to see her there. Akari admits to them that she isn't very talented or good with performance, and the girls admit that they never got to perform before either. While they may dance during training or practice, it must feel really different to do the same thing before an audience for the first time.
The girls then decide to let Akari decide on a stage design, because she has had the most experience from them all. Akari is surprised but she is happy to know that she isn't the only girl struggling with this. She describes her feelings while drawing a circle stage and the girls are beginning to feel it too.
They show Sergeant Pepper and he agrees to their design and takes the girls to tool shed. He tells them that if there is something they don't know how to use, they can ask him. It's then Akari recalls the time Ichigo cut down a tree for her friend. She is inspired by that but she has never actually used an Axe before. At first she struggles, but she is able to make a hit on her second try, only to struggle when the axe gets caught in the tree.
It's then the girls are approached by Ichigo, who helps her free the axe. Akari is shocked to find Ichigo there, as well as Ran and Aoi. Akari asks why they came, but first Ichigo explains how she met Sergeant Pepper back in America. She had been enjoying a snack when she saw a poster advertising an Idol training camp. It seemed like fun so she joined up. He mentions that while Ichigo is really small, she did really good. She kept up and gave courage to the other girls many times during the training, even if she couldn't properly speak to them.
Hearing such words, Akari and the other girls become inspired once again. Ichigo helps the girls learn more about using tools, such as the axe and they watch as the tree falls to the ground. Then everyone begins to work together, pulling trees away, cutting them down and into the shape they need. Akari has become very inspired by all of this and she really wants to do her best for all of her new friends who have never gotten to perform before.
Later that evening, Aoi asks what Ichigo was like in America as Ichigo and Akari make discussion. Akari admits that she had no idea that she would get along so well with the others, and while it seemed scary at first, she had a lot of fun and she's glad she came now. She also realizes that she really wasn't alone.
The next morning, Sergeant Pepper congratulates the girls on their job well done. He then asks who will perform first and they look to Akari and she asks if she can perform with Ichigo. She wants to stand on the stage with her again more then anything else.
With that the girls change into their chosen coords before appearing on stage, where they perform to "Idol Activity!".
After their performance, Akari returns home to tell her friend all about the fun she had. The girls from the camp pass by while greeting her and Akari resumes discussion over the stuff that went on while at camp. As this goes on, Orihime watches her from the door and comments on how Akari has realized what was really important from Ichigo.
