It's Spring―the season of student entrances. Starlight School's new student audition's caravan has begun and it is up to Ichigo, Aoi, and Ran to decide who joins or not. Along the way they meet a very strange girl who seems determined more than anything to get in.
Ki and Seira are watching the weekly idol news program that has Ichigo, Aoi, and Ran on it. The three congratulate anyone who has moved up a grade, and also announce that they will be attending the high school now. After the video ends they also comment on how they are high school students too and meet up with Sora and Maria shortly after.
Orihime gives a speech to everyone who is entering high school, saying that here is where they will step into the world of large-scale idol work. It's revealed that the students from Dream Academy are also being given this announcement and when it ends, everyone leaves.
Orihime meets up with the girls and she reveals to them that they will be the judges of the audition caravan. It travels and searches all over for the schools newest idols, and those who may have failed the original exams will be abble to reaply too. She tells them how important this is and the girls agree to it.
As the news on this is going out, a girl is shown in her home running about trying to locate something. She is very surprised by the news and super excited. Her mother comes into the room and tells her that she will be able to apply for this and maybe even get to meet Ichigo!
Back at the cafeteria area the girls are discussing this job they were given. It's a traditional thing, and very special for them to have been chosen for it. Aoi also points out the other good things about the caravan too.
In Orihime's office, Johnny also seems to be really excited about the audition caravan too. Orihime mentions that any idol who enters the school in this way would be very popular and gain a bunch of attention.
Back outside, the girls are going over their schedules. They see that there is a bunch of stops at venues to watch performances, then decide on who passes or not. Which makes them realize how tough this job actually is, because it's entirely on their shoulders. Ichigo even points out that they need to think very carefully with each applicant. The girls head inside while continuing their discussion, stopping at the hallway of past idols who have become special figures all on their own and bring up how they relied on each other to help them move forward. So they need to do their best as judges.
Back in her bedroom, Akari is still eager over the announcement of being able to perform and the opportunity to meet Ichigo. She gets up while thinking about last time she tried for the school and failed, not even coming close to passing. But this time she is going to see to it that her dream comes true and this inspires her to think back to when she became attached to Ichigo and wanted to be like her.
It was when she was in fourth grade and found a girl struggling at the playground. But because she didn't know the girl she didn't do anything to help her out and just headed home. When she got there she saw Ichigo helping her friends, including a classmate she wasn't overly close to. Which inspired her to go and help the girl the next day at school, because she wants to make people smile and become an idol!
Eventually the Audition Caravan begins. An announcer introduces the three judges while everyone cheers and they have a seat. The girls wish everyone luck and Ichigo thinks about their previous discussion on what they need to judge. Like the intervals and rhythm of singing and dancing, and watch how well the performers act from nervousness. They made such a list that it seems like a lot, and not enough too...
With that the auditions begin and soon come to a close. A bunch of girls stand on stage and wait for the announcement to go on to announce which girl will be attending the school before they head to the next location, where Otome and Kaede are joining them as judges. They announce the winner but happen to notice how sad this has made one of the girls...
Eventually the final day of the nationwide audition caravan tour comes. They see how many girls have come today and mention that they can only pick two of them, which makes the reality of the situation really harsh. It's up to them to decide, but Ran claims this may not be such a bad thing since it's a lot less painful then finding out later that you weren't suited to be an idol. Aoi suggests they pick extra carefully an with that the event begins.
It's then the man announces the next student. Akari runs on stage and they notice her hair bow and she even introduces herself as Ichigo to the audience as the man asks. But as revealed moments later, she had been prepared to say Ichigo's name, because she assumed they would ask something related to her. So it was so stuck in her mind it was all she could think about!
Akari is quick to realize her mistake and announces that she isn't Ichigo, which makes everyone laugh. She introduces herself before worrying that Ichigo thinks she is probably a freak. With that she decides to announce her true feelings since she worries she may never get the chance again. She announces herself and how she became a fan of Ichigo while Aoi and Ran comment on how intense the girl is. Akari tells them everything she could to be closer to Ichigo and be like her, and last time she failed and shows them the picture she took after. She looks awkward but its a very important picture...
Akari thinks back to when she found out she failed that day and says that while she didn't achieve her idol dream, she did learn a lot about herself back then and it helped her now to improve. She couldn't give up so she came back today for another chance. Aoi then asks her what she thinks the best thing about Ichigo is, and Akari claims that its how Ichigo was able to teach her how to dream. She may not be as talented as other girls are when it comes to most things but she couldn't give up her dream without a fight!
The girls compliment Akari and the man brings up her performance again. She agrees and says that she may mess up a few times but she plans on doing her best. Before she does though, Ichigo wishes her luck and tells her to do her best.
Akari runs backstage to choose a set of cards, then she approaches the machine to insert them while telling herself that she will show her true feelings to Ichigo today and give it her all. She puts the coord cards on each slot, then changes before appearing on stage, where she performs to Idol Activity!.
With that the announcements are revealed. Akari has been chosen, much to her surprise. Everyone cheers for her but Johnny mentions that her skills weren't exactly that great, so he's pretty confused. Orihime then mentions that because Ichigo and the rest chose her, there must be something special about Akari...
