Dream Academy's four top idols are auditioning for a drama exclusive to rookie idols only. Kii, with her producing skills and equipment, goes through a roulette to see which idol is suited for which character. After seeing the results, the four begin to question whether not they can do it.
At Dream Academy, Tiara reveals that she wants Seira, Ki, Sora, and Maria to take part in the audition for an upcoming drama. While Maria and Ki knew of it, Seira and Sora do not. Ki explains it was popular when they were much younger. Tiara explains the series to Sora and Seira, informing them that it's a drama about four girl explorers, the Cool Angels, and the expeditions they make while searching for mysteries and treasure. She is sure those four would be great for the auditions and asks them if they wish to try, and while Ki and Maria accept right away, Seira takes a moment before she makes up her own mind.
In her computer room, Ki is going over the main characters of the drama with the others: the reliable leader, the genius with an IQ of 500, the Gluttonous brawn, and the spacey mechanic. Ki voices her opinion that they have a better chance of passing the audition if they pick the roles correctly and they try to decide how to pick them. Other then Sora, who doesn't mind taking whoever is left over. But Ki thinks all four need to work together to decide and they play rock-paper-scissors...
...which doesn't work because they all keep choosing the same hand gestures...
Eventually they choose to pick another way by having Compy choose the roles based on data. They agree to this, but Ki warns them that once he chooses there is no changing it. Compy then chooses Seira for the gluttonous brawn, Maria for the spacey mechanic, Sora as the brain, and finally herself as the leader. The girls aren't very convinced they got the right results, but Compy assures them he wasn't playing around.
Meanwhile, at Starlight Academy Ran has been overlooking the audition for the Cool Angels. It is only open for those who have debuted in the past two years so those three aren't able to enter. Ichigo voices her concern since Ran is disappointed, but she explains it was because she had been training extra hard since she heard about it. She sees Aoi taking a picture of her, who asks if that was why she had been doing so much action training lately, then notices she has just gotten a message from Ki. She asks for some advice and they decide to go an lend a hand.
Meanwhile, Tiara has also taken the liberty of calling Orihime to bring up how she's asking the students from Starlight Academy for help again. But Orihime assures her it's fine.
On Starlight Academy grounds, Ki tells them that they need to find the Audiovisual room, where the others will be waiting. Once they find it, Ichigo informs them that for today they will learn the ins and outs of drama auditions. She then asks Ki about their concerns and she explains what they did to decide who got what roles but they're not sure if they really got roles that could suit them that well. She supports Compy, but she isn't sure she is suited for being a leader until they remind her of how good of a producer she is, and mention that it's very similar to being a leader.
Sora then asks them if she seems smart enough for being the brain of the group, and they comment on how composed and calm she always is. Seira meanwhile, is very uncertain about her own match until they mention that it can be a good thing sometimes. The girl who originally played the role, Shiina Remon was originally a model and a lot of people at first thought it was a bad match. But she played extremely well and was able to play a brawny character that appeared incredibly cute. Then finally, Maria voices her own concern that she may not be the mechanic type.
The trio then begin to tell the girls that instead of just imitating the original Cool Angels, they should try to create new Cool Angels. The director is very open to suggestions from the staff, and even if they make a little mistake it wont mean they're disqualified and they promise to cheer for them all. Leaving the foursome feeling much better.
That night, the four girls have returned to Dream Academy. Seira is training on her running machine, Maria is practicing her driving skills with a game, Sora is meditating, and Ki is busy studying a map.
Come the next day, the four girls arrive with Tiara to the junge. They are all ready and sure they can do this, but they can't help but compare it to a movie filming, rather then an audition. Tiara informs them that the director was a former stunt woman and she is very famous for what she's done in the past.
It's then they see four girls walk by, who have just finished their auditions. They seem to be worn out and unsure of themselves, but before they can see anymore, they find the director with Tiara, greeting each other. She introduces herself to them and welcomes them to the audition.
Back at Starlight Academy, Ichigo, Ran, and Aoi are discussing how the other four are doing. While Aoi and Ran are unsure, since they have never worked together like this, Ichigo simply tells them "udon and nori", which sounds like the english phrase "don't worry". It's then they are approached by Johnny and Otome, who have been searching for them. They then begin to inform them of an emergency...
Back at the Cool Angels audition, Ki is explaining to the others and Tiara about the route she put on her map, while following the script. If they are unable to all four make it to the goal in time, the audition will end. The girls are beginning to feel nervous and Tiara wishes them luck before leaving with Misumi. Who tells them to decide when they start.
The four girls start after introducing themselves and their roles, then they take off. Ki wanrs them to stay together and very close, but Sora has wound up in front of them due to not paying much attention. They try to tell her to get back, but when they find something, Seira and Maria run ahead to see. They see all sort of mushrooms, which Maria wishes to bring home until they remind her that she shouldn't be thinking of food, since she's the mechanic. She then claims she got them or Seira and hands them to her, who thanks her and wishes to eat them... but she has no idea what to do with all of them...
Eventually they come to a forked road and Seira has to scold her for asking her what to do. Ki then decides they should ask Sora, since she's the brain of the group. Without much thought she points straight, despite that not being one of the routes...
As Maria has decorated herself with a bunch of flowers, Seira comments on how none of them were able to keep in role. So she decides it's up to her to keep in character, but is unable to eat the raw mushroom.
While they're driving around, Misumi sadly notices how the girls aren't grasping their roles yet. Tiara claims it's only because they're nervous, so she brings up her plan in order to rid of it. She brings out a group of tigers by using a button, and Tiara is shocked to learn they're real.
Back with the girls, Ki deduces they can't go any further and Seira suggests that since Maria is good wih farm animals, maybe she can win them over. Maria doesn't think so though and suggests that Seira should do it because she's supposed to be the brawn. She seems ready to, only to realize she couldn't fight tigers and they see Sora approach them. She uses her camera to take a picture of them and Misumi deduces that because Sora isn't afraid she is the strongest. Seira watches while Ki is trying to look up things tigers don't like, then decides that she will give them something they do like instead: Cat powder!
Everyone is surprised to see how docile the tigers have become, and Seira explains that she always carries it around for kitty cats. Misumi and Tiara are also amazed by this, but Tiara notes that this isn't like her character. This gives them the chance to go and leave, while a warning pops up to tell viewers not to try this at home.
Next, they initiate a second plan and the four arrive to a raft. Maria unties it and hops onto the raft with the others. She assures them that she's never steered one, but she has been on a lot of cruises with her dad growing up, so she thinks they will be okay. Which worries the trio as Tiara wishes them luck and Misumi comments on how in character Maria is being.
The ride goes well until they get so far down the lake. Ki is sad and doesn't think she is doing very well but they assure her she's fine and they find a waterfall awaiting them!
As Tiara is screaming in alarm, Misumi has the staff grab onto the raft, so that it doesn't get destroyed falling over the waterfall. Unfortunately the four still do though...
On land, they complain due to not being told about the waterfall beforehand. But this doesn't last long, because Sora has just noticed the entrance to the hidden area, behind the waterfall. They head inside while Misumi compliments the girls for doing well. She doesn't elaborate, but mentions that nobody else in the auditions has reached it yet and they hurry up to resume filming them.
Inside, things go well until Maria accidentally steps on something, causing a huge wave of fire to be spat at them from one of the statues!
They come to the main room of the ruins and they happen to spot a crystal. They wonder if it may be the treasure, but Ki doesn't think so. After she picks it up, she points out the nearby door, which they assume to be their goal. But before they can continue along, they are confronted by the four Starlight Academy students: Ichigo, Aoi, Ran, and Otome!
As they watch from above, Misumi mentions to Tiara that she called them earlier to ask for their assistance playing the bad guys.
And so, a face off begins between the eight girls. They rush to the moving steps and begin to fight each other until Seira and Sora are able to pin them down. They tell Maria to watch Ki and get her to the goal, but when she is unable to, she tosses Maria the crystal and apologizes for not being a good enough leader. But when Maria encourages her, she jumps for her friends hand with nothing less to lose!
At the door they insert the crystal and find the treasure!
Misumi then blows a whistle to end the audition. She compliments the girls for going as far as they did, as well as the fact that none of them considered giving up, even once. So she tells them they pass and everyone heads outside of the waterfall. The four from starlight academy congratulate them, then when Misumi tells them how much more intense the real show will be, they all react in shock...
Back at Starlight Academy however, Orihime thanks the four for their help with the others. Because of that, they have sent the girls some cake and flowers as thanks. Aoi suddenly gets a message from Ki, telling her of all the things they had to go through since their audition. Such as riding a strange object very quickly as it went down, running from explosions... she isn't very sure if they will still be smiling when they return to them. But Ichigo thinks this means they are doing very well!
